	The NEW Collage: The Art of Texture & Layering with Fluid Acrylics, Mixed Media and Gel Mediums

Spring 2010 - Please check back soon or contact us for date Whidbey Island, WA $295. >> Registration Information, Lodging and Directions Collage and mixed media have made major advances in the past year with many innovative acrylic techniques. Gather up your favorite papers, photos, fabrics, drawings, etc. and join us for a fabulous weekend of layering fluid acrylics, gel mediums, and a wide variety of collage items. We will spend the first morning layering transparent and opaque collage materials and mediums as textural components for the ground or structure of our paintings. As we move into the afternoon, various scraping, sanding, and other reduction techniques will be added for those who wish to reveal some of the layers underneath. Additional techniques such as transfers will also be demonstrated. We will finish our pieces with a succession of transparent layers of Gel Medium, Transparent Acrylics, and final collage elements. Students will be encouraged to work on multiple pieces with the intention of producing a small series of work. Experience: Open to painters of all levels!

	Spring 2010 - Please check back soon or contact us for date Carmel, CA $295. >> Registration Information, Lodging and Directions Join us for a dynamic acrylic intuitive abstract painting workshop at our spacious light infused studio in Carmel's famous Sunset Center in picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea California. The workshop is two days and will focus on the intuitive painting experience. Students will be prompted to suspend all preconceived ideas and embark on a fun, spontaneous painting journey directed largely by personal intuition, style and emotion. Along the way we will guide the development and composition of our work by learning to identify emerging patterns, by defining our own unique symbols and color schemes, and by creating the illusion of space through edge variation and the use of lights and darks. Throughout the weekend demos integrating a variety of tools, techniques and surfaces will be interspersed with hands-on painting sessions. Experience: Open to painters of all levels! This acrylic painting workshop will help you to loosen up your style while learning how to incorporate new techniques into your landscapes. Join us for two days of an intuitive approach to landscape painting among the inspiring beauty of Carmel-by-the-Sea. We will spend the fweekend focusing on simple atmospheric landscape & seascape paintings created by layering paint onto brush-worked and textured surfaces. Demonstrations incorporating several tools and techniques will be followed by hands-on painting sessions. Experience: Painters of all levels are welcome! This unique painting / art marketing workshop is for artists of all levels who are ready to market and exhibit their work. Whether you are considering your first open studio tour, or are looking to expand into multiple galleries, this workshop will help you to define, create, and market a body of work. Each artist will begin Saturday morning with a series of discussions and exercises to establish their individual exhibition and art marketing goals for the year of 2008. This will be followed by an afternoon hands on painting session directed toward developing a cohesive, marketable body of work. Saturday night the studio will be open until 9 for anyone who would like to continue painting.ii Sunday we will resume with a full morning of demos and discussion about developing our identities as artists. Topics covered will include: logos, portfolios, websites, resumes / bios, artist statements, gallery etiquette, and any other topics presented by the group. Sunday afternoon we will resume painting with each artist working on their individual projects. We will close the workshop with a brief round table discussion and optional critique.
