Sedona
Fluid Acrylic on Canvas
Red rock, turquoise skies, flowing water, and fascinating vortexes are just a few of the elements that inspired this earthy series about the Southwest. I haven't spent a lot of time in New Mexico, but like so many of my intuitive abstract paintings, I found that once this series started emerging on canvas I suddenly knew exactly where the imagery came from: a trip to Sedona that left a visual and spiritual impression that came forth years later. The paintings were created using a juicy wet on wet aquamedia technique to start, then finished with multiple layers of transparent and opaque fluid acrylic.
