Lauryn Taylor began her career as a
professional artist in 1982 while enrolled in a Bachelor of Fine
Arts program at the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland,
Ohio.
A Graphic Design and Photography major, in 1986 she was awarded
a position interning as a greeting card and toy designer for
American Greetings Corporation. This opportunity launched a
successful design and marketing career that spanned two decades.
During this period, Lauryn also continued to pursue her life
long passion of painting and became an accomplished abstract
painter in the mediums of oil, acrylic and encaustic.
In 2003 she began sharing her techniques by creating and
teaching a series of motivational abstract painting workshops,
Lauryn Taylor Fine Art Workshops. The same year, she launched
Lauryn Taylor Fine Art Gallery, a unique Carmel-by the Sea
gallery designed to provide a fresh and progressive
exhibition environment for the work of West Coast emerging and
established artists.
In 2006, the gallery expanded to include a second location
called Lauryn Taylor Fine Art Annex, and in 2007, partnered with
the neighboring Gem Restaurant to provide a third venue for the
gallery's contemporary art.
In August of 2008, Lauryn relocated to Whidbey Island,
Washington. At present she divides her time between family, an
extensive West Coast teaching schedule, and creating acrylic and encaustic
paintings in her Whidbey Island studio. |
